The Shipyard Project promises to be a prominent destination within the upper Midwest. Once a center for rail and water transport of raw materials, the now vacated brownfield will be dramatically transformed into a destination of recreation and tourism. This vision must reflect the values and needs of neighbors and stakeholders of the Shipyard - our approach to public engagement starts with understanding and appreciating the community and its residents.
This web page will serve as the primary source for public information and materials for the Shipyard Project. Check back to learn about upcoming public meetings, take community surveys, view preliminary designs, and share your input.
Construction for Phase I of the Shipyard project is scheduled for summer 2022. This work includes a riverfront promenade/multi-modal path, floating dock, fishing pier, habitat enhancement, and an accessible kayak launch.
