2023 Forestry Facts & FAQs

Stump Grinding: Stump grinding will begin the week of May 22. In 2023, crews will start removing stumps on the East side of Green Bay and move towards the West (the direction alternates each year). There are approximately 1,500 stumps to remove this year. 

Planting: Spring tree planting is coming to an end. If a residence did not receive a new tree this spring, the site will be evaluated and put on the fall list for possible planting.

Ash Trees and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB): Treatments have begun and will take place through June.  Approximately 2,300 ash trees will be treated. Staff will start evaluating trees in mid-June to determine future removal lists and evaluate treatment success. We intend to only remove ash trees during the summer if there is an elevated risk potential as determined by staff.

Private Trees: Requests for forestry staff to inspect and advise private trees will be a low priority and will only be completed as time allows. 

Sidewalk/Tree Conflicts: These requests are initiated through the Department of Public Works and their sidewalk program. Call (920) 448-3100 to start the sidewalk evaluation process.
