GBPD
Night Heat OWI
Enforcement

The
Green Bay Police Department made over 1,000 OWI arrests for
2008. This is up 49% from our average the previous 3 years.
For 2009 we are on pace to exceed that number having totalled 500
arrests for OWI in only the first four months of 2009.

The Green Bay Police Department is taking a
proactive
approach
toward drunk driving. If you commit a traffic violation, you
will
be stopped. If you have a vehicle defect, you will be stopped.
By proactively stopping vehicles, we are much more likely to
detect drunk drivers.
Prevent
Senseless Drunk Driving Tragedies
Wisconsin has the highest rate of drunk driving in the entire
United States. In
2007 Wisconsin had 337 people killed and 5,500 injured in
alcohol related crashes. Each and every one of
these tragedies could have been prevented.
- Don't drink and drive.
If you feel buzzed, you are impaired. Call a cab or
ride with someone sober.
- Prevent your friends from
driving drunk. You could save their life or someone else's.
- Report impaired or
erratic drivers to police. Include plate, color, make, model,
and direction of
travel.

Support Additional Green
Bay Police Canines
Thanks in large part to the generosity of Green Bay
businesses and
individuals, the Green Bay Police Department will be adding 2 more
police dogs. One of the dogs will be a dual purpose drug
detection / tracking dog, and the other will be a Passive Drug
Detection Specialist. These dogs will be a great addition to
the
department and help us keep Green Bay safer by locating fleeing
suspects and taking drugs off the streets.
Because budgets
are tighter than ever before, we need your help to pay for these
programs. Your tax deductible donation to the GBPD Canine program will
go directly toward training, equipping, feeding, grooming, and
maintaining the dogs. For donation
forms and additional
information, click here.
